We Will Never Forget

As others ran down,

They trudged higher,

And on that day,

Their strength did not tire,

With all that they did,

It was us, who they inspire,

Even when our hope did die,

They kept climbing into the sky,

They are the heroes,

The ones we won’t forget.

As you watched the smoke,

The burning of the flame,

Your heart and mind,

Left and came,

You could not,

Believe your eyes,

When the planes crashed,

In the skies,

You are the one, who won’t forget,

When on 9/11, the sun set.

One step down,

Two steps down,

It’s hard to even grasp,

The ones still inside the tower,

That had the hardest task,

Our hope was always with them,

As they went through all of this,

In our hearts,

In our soul,

They are the ones we’ll always miss.

That one day,

Ten years ago,

Made us think,

“Where do we go from here?”

As we searched through the rubble,

“How can we carry on?”

As our hope slipped away,

“Is this the end?”

But just look at us now.

We will always still remember,

The ones that were lost,

Thinking back to that day,

Comes at a painful cost,

But we still trudge on,

Through the bad days,

That have come and gone,

But now we are all,

Together forever,

And ever and ever,

Again.

I see how that day,

Taught us lessons,

In every way,

How to come,

Together as one,

How to pass faith,

Onto your son,

That our future will be bright,

There are unbelievable things,

That will make America a beautiful sight.

With all our hope,

With all our liberty,

With all of our hearts,

Spread farther than we can see,

This is the message,

That we send,

That one day on 9/11,

Was not the end.
